Plugs in, does the job, and feels pretty solid, especially for the price. I haven't once opened the manual or checked the CD it came with, you can just type your error code into Google to get what you need to know. I bought this to check the monitors on my '96 Miata which has problems readying all the monitors. I have tried it with my friend's car, which had the check engine light illuminated, turned out it needed more coolant.

The only way I could see this item getting anything lower than 5 stars would be, 1) The buyer had no clue what they were buying and expected it to do something extraordinary (like fix the check engine problem) or 2) they got a faulty item.
